Chew-R-S

Some things I want to remember years from now when Bub and Little Bit are all grown up and possibly giving speeches or otherwise impressing people with their language skills:

1. The part of the ABC song when Bub belts out, "Chew-R-S-T-U-B."*

2. The fact that Little Bit's first recognizable utterance besides "dada" is the phrase "tickle, tickle, tickle," complete with hand motion. So adorable, NTB.

3. Bub's love for the books Corduroy and A Pocket for Corduroy by Don Freeman and the way he pronounces Corduroy as CorduRORY.

4. The way Little Bit says something like "mmmm" after bites of watermelon.

What are you hearing these days?

*explains why some of our matchbox cars are called "bans" but not why all the "bans" are referred to with the adjective "rescue bans."

Acey started 'Da-Da' at 5 1/2 months, NTB, and in my excitement, I threw the stereo remote control across the room when he said it. His father actually remembers the date he first started, and reports to friends that Aidan began talking on June 5th. A minor exaggeration. Naturally, I don't expect 'Ma-ma' for a while...though sometimes when he gets very sad, I hear 'Mih. Mih-mih-mih-mih-mih..." I like to think he's calling me?

My favorite is when Sophie leans in for a kiss, to me or anyone, she makes the mmmmmm sound that I always do.

At this very moment, however, she is crying and banging on her door to be let out. It seems nap time is OVER.

We just noticed recently that in the Small World, benches are "venches," cabins are "cavins" BUT, shovels are "shubels"

My Megan is learning lots of new words lately and is now saying "wah done" when she is "all done" with her meals...then a bunch of "up-a, up-a" demanding to get up out of her high chair. I think I'm the only one who can tell the difference between Daddy "DA-da" and her version of sister Amanda's name (da-DA, from "Manda"). And my favorite, she can Moo when asked what a cow says. What a fun age!
