"I see another sharp!"

Bub has made some friends on the beach. He tends to play best with girls a bit older than him who are bossy with him but not too bossy. His vacation fling this year is almost five. Bub is three. Today a four-and-a-half year-old boy joined them on the beach and supplanted the Bub in the girl's affections. But yesterday, Bub and his older woman had a grand old time. The ocean was very calm and they would wade out about fifty feet or so (supervised from the shore, of course). Then, his friend would shout "Shark!" and the two of them would run to the shore giggling and squealing. Then, they would go back and do it again. And again. And again. Bub just followed her lead and ran away from that "shark" with glee and abandon. This morning, he looked out at the ocean and announced, "I see another sharp!"

I thought he was "sharp"er than that, but hubby taught him to end the word with "k" not "p" so now he has seen several shar-K's.

I can just picture the Bub reveling in the water and on the shark lookout. Can't wait to see pictures. m

That's cute! Older women, eh? That's funny because Sophie seems drawn to older men. I wonder if that's some sort of commentary on their upbringing?

This made me think of the "Sharp" around our house -- O's 2 foot tall T-Rex. Another "Sharp" would be O's idea of great company! O. has a thing for older women too -- most importantly the next door neighbor girls M&M -- ages 10 and 5!

I can so picture this adorable scene. Interesting that Bub is so compatible with older women. He can Fancy get along fine, though it seems he and Swiper are better playmates. Perhaps that's because Fancy almost exclusively prefers older girls for playmates. In true 4 1/2 age form, this includes someone who might have turned 5 in January instead of May.

The SLP in me loved the bit about teaching the "k" sound!

i often wish cosmo had a 4 or 5 year old neighbor girl to play with. it is so much easier for a 3 year old to play with someone who has just a tad more social skill development, to set the tone.

i often avoid correcting some of cosmo's mis-pronunciations. he seems to work them out on his own, and i find them so adorable...i just don't have the heart.
